How to take meeting notes without missing the conversation
Prepare a short agenda, capture key decisions, and review the details afterward. See how Drushya supports the workflow on Windows.
Give yourself fewer things to write
Trying to capture every sentence can make it harder to follow a discussion. Start with a small structure: the meeting goal, decisions, actions, and open questions. Use that structure to notice what matters while leaving room to listen.
You can use this approach with handwritten notes or a recording tool. With Drushya, the Windows app captures the audio and prepares a transcript and notes afterward, so you can review details once the conversation is over.
Before: prepare the questions you need answered
- Write the outcome you want, such as “Agree the pilot scope and launch date.”
- List two or three questions needed to reach that outcome.
- If recording, agree with participants before starting and test the microphone and output device.
For Drushya, use the same output device in Windows and your meeting app. Check the recording status before relying on it to capture the discussion.
During: note the turning points
Write short markers when someone makes a decision, accepts a task, or raises an unresolved issue. Ask clarifying questions while everyone is present: “Who owns that?” or “Which date do we mean?”
In this fictional pilot review, your rough notes might be:
Decision: Pilot with five users.
Action: Nisha to send the invitation on 6 October.
Question: Who handles support during the pilot?
Before closing, read the decisions and commitments back to the group. That gives participants a chance to correct your understanding immediately.
After: review and send a short follow-up
Stop the recording. Once Drushya has processed the audio online, open the summary, transcript, and tasks. Compare the generated notes with your markers, check important details, and edit the notes where needed.
Write a follow-up with the agreed outcome, actions, and unresolved questions. Use the transcript to check the discussion rather than assuming every generated statement is correct. If a detail remains unclear, ask the person involved.
